If you process cards through the JPOS system: You will need to update your version of JPOS Software to the most recent version that allows for EMV integration. The cost for the JPOS Software update is:
$199.00 - If it's been 1 year, or less, since you've had a paid update.
$299.00 - If you haven't had an update within the past year.
If you're unsure, please contact me and I can let you know.
For each register that accepts credit/debit/ebt cards, you will also need a new PIN Pad. The new PIN pads are capable of using the new EMV (chip and PIN) technology. New PIN pads are $249 each. ($249 includes an encryption injection fee specific to your bank card processor)
To make JPOS software programs both EMV compatible and "Out Of Scope", we are utilizing a software product from DataCap Systems.
"Out Of Scope" - means that JPOS software programs never "see" sensitive bank card data. JPOS simply passes a request for funds on to the DataCap software. The DataCap software seamlessly handles acquiring the card swipe and communication with your bank card processor.
This excerpt is from DataCap's website:
"Our controls drive the card-entry device (PIN Pad, MSR, or NFC reader) directly, maintaining complete separation between your Point of Sale application and cardholder data. This means that you're no longer "payment aware" and therefore not subject to PA-DSS. No validation or PCI-DSS listing required for the POS provider."

For retailers using MercuryPay: There is NO additional fee for the DataCap software.
MercuryPay directly purchases the DataCap software license on behalf of their customers.
For retailers using ANY OTHER processor: (including retailers currently using DataCap's NETePay software)
You will need to purchase the DataCap Software.
ALL STORES can avoid any of these changes by going with Stand-Alone Terminals, and processing cards separate from JPOS programs. Contact your Bank Card Representative.
